Energy scenarios workshop in Berlin
On October 13, Helmholtz Energy invited experts from energy scenario research and representatives of the federal ministries to a workshop in Berlin under the motto "Energy scenarios thought through further: socio-technical perspectives of Helmholtz Energy". About 30 participants gained insights into the latest findings from energy scenario research in the Helmholtz Energy program Energy System Design and related them to already published energy scenarios.
The discussion focused on technical details such as the linking of context scenarios and techno-economic models, the selection and meaning of descriptors, the differences to established energy scenarios, and the definition of sustainability criteria and their translation into models and sustainability assessments. Furthermore, topics such as the accessibility and publication of data, the importance of science communication, and the transformation of research results into concrete recommendations for action were discussed. The discussion ended with reflections on future research directions and the possibility of a follow-up workshop.
